Colorado’s summer sunshine and heat continue to make an appearance this fall. With 80 degree temps, it’s hard to layer on a scarf and pull on my boots. Instead, I keep reaching for my long-er sleeve shift dresses like this one.
A few tips on wearing shift dresses:
(1) Choose a fit that does not cling to problem areas. Some shift dresses can cling to hips or the tummy. If this is the case, try a size up or a different cut altogether. There is nothing worse than wearing an ill-fitting shift.
(2) Accessorize a plain shift dress with a fun necklace or scarf. Think of a plain shift as a blank canvas – it definitely needs some color or a fun accessory to make the outfit pop.
(3) For my long-legged gals – shift dresses can be your best friend or your worst enemy! Most of the time, we can get away with wearing these because of our length. The right ones tend to flatter our height instead of making us look frumpy (a common complaint with shifts). However, if they the dress is too short, be sure to pair with leggings.
Do you have a favorite shift? If so, please link the suggestion in the comments below!
Very Truly Yours,
Jennifer
